Welcome to the international conference How safe is Afghanistan? in Stockholm, Sweden, on October 4, 2018.
In 2015, around 23,500 unaccompanied minors of Afghan origin were registered in Sweden. Many of them have waited years for their asylum verdicts. Most have had their applications rejected, based on the Migration Board’s assessment of the security situation in the country. The latest legal position was taken in August, 2017. There is a need of re-assessment.
The conference will be part of the initiative for an European day of action on October 4-8, 2018, initiated by the European network Don’t Send Afghans Back.
